The Kearney Foundation of Soil Science is currently accepting proposals for support of seminar speakers in the area of scaling in soil ecosystems. The speaker’s topic must be clearly related to the current 2006-2011 mission: “Understanding and Managing Soil-Ecosystem Functions across Spatial and Temporal Scales” (http://kearney.ucdavis.edu). Kearney funding can support travel expenses, lodging and board for the speaker: up to $500 for in-state, $1,000 for out-of-state domestic, and $1,200 for international speakers. Applicants must have University of California or UC-ANR affiliation.
Please submit one paragraph (via email) describing the speaker, the proposed title or topic of the seminar, and how it relates to the Kearney mission, along with an approximate budget to Randy Dahlgren, Kearney Foundation Director, Kearney@ucdavis.edu. Proposals may be submitted any time during the academic year; however, funding is limited and support will only be provided until the funds have been expended.
