An interdisciplinary workshop addressing the interface between science and policy concerning soil carbon sequestration. The goal of this meeting was to increase communication and contacts among soil scientists, economists, and policy practitioners on the topic of soil carbon sequestration. Another goal was to present and share the findings of research on soil carbon funded by the current mission of the Kearney Foundation of Soil Science. We invited internationally renowned experts in the disciplines of environmental policy, agricultural economics, soil science, ecology, and modeling of complex systems. Representatives from the California Energy Commission, California Department of Food and Agriculture, and other agencies interested in developing carbon sequestration policy in the state were present. A poster session presented the results of projects currently funded by the Kearney Foundation.
